Niko Goodrum, a 32-year-old utility player, has played for five different teams this season, including the Minnesota Twins, Houston Astros, LA Angels, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Tampa Bay Rays. Despite a modest performance in the majors with a slash line of .103/.188/.103 over 13 appearances, his minor league stats were more impressive, hitting .270/.387/.444 with three home runs. Goodrum has significant MLB experience with over 1600 plate appearances and has also played internationally in Korea, where he hit .295/.373/.387 in 2023. Goodrum’s versatility allows him to play multiple positions, making him a valuable depth addition for the Orioles.

Burch Smith, a 34-year-old reliever, began his MLB career with the San Diego Padres in 2013. He pitched around 29 innings for the Marlins in 2023, achieving a 4.25 ERA and a 47% ground ball rate. Smith also spent time in Korea last season but was limited by a shoulder injury. In 2024, his fastball velocity has improved to 94.4 mph. Smith is expected to start in Triple-A Norfolk with the potential to move up to the Orioles’ bullpen as a middle reliever.
