The Timberwolves are facing significant constraints in building their roster due to being in the second tier of the luxury tax. In response, team president Tim Connelly is exploring roster improvements, including a recent trade with the San Antonio Spurs for the No. 8 pick, Rob Dillingham, by giving up a 2031 pick and a 2030 pick swap.
In a smaller move to free up a roster spot without incurring additional costs, Minnesota has traded Wendell Moore Jr. and the No. 37 pick in this draft to the Pistons for the No. 53 pick, as reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic.

For the Pistons, acquiring the No. 37 pick is the main goal. Moore, a 6’5″ shooting guard from Duke, has played 54 games in two seasons for the Timberwolves but has struggled with shooting, making only 2 of his 23 three-point attempts (8.7%). Despite losing about $1.4 million in cap space due to this trade, the Pistons still have $63 million available, according to Keith Smith of Spotrac.
