On Monday, the Seattle Seahawks strengthened their running back corps by signing Ricky Person Jr., the team confirmed.
Person Jr. had an impressive college career at North Carolina State, accumulating over 2,000 yards from scrimmage across four seasons. Despite going undrafted in 2022, he later signed with the Baltimore Ravens. Much of his rookie year was spent on the practice squad before he transitioned to the Birmingham Stallions of the UFL.
Although he served mainly as a backup in 2023, Person Jr. expanded his role significantly this past season. He concluded the campaign with six touchdowns, including a noteworthy performance of 102 rushing yards during his team’s championship victory.
Joining Seattle, Person Jr. enters a competitive landscape for a roster spot behind established backs Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet. He will contend with players like 2023 seventh-round pick Kenny McIntosh, along with undrafted rookies George Holani and Kobe Lewis.
In a corresponding move, the Seahawks also announced the release of three undrafted rookies: cornerback Ro Torrence, defensive end Rason Williams, and running back TaMerik Williams. These decisions underscore the team’s ongoing evaluation and adjustments as they prepare for the upcoming season.
