Devils Lose Graeme Clarke to the Wild but Land Key Forward in Recent Trade

The New Jersey Devils have acquired forward Adam Beckman from the Minnesota Wild in exchange for Graeme Clarke. The announcement came from President/General Manager Tom Fitzgerald and Devils’ Assistant General Manager/Utica Comets General Manager Dan MacKinnon.

Beckman, 23, has appeared in 23 NHL games, making his debut with the Wild on October 30, 2021, against Colorado. The 6’2”, 180-pound forward recorded his first NHL point, an assist, on November 6, 2021, against Pittsburgh. Throughout his NHL career, Beckman has tallied three assists and 14 penalty minutes, all with Minnesota. In the 2023-24 season, he played 11 games for the Wild, earning two assists.

In the previous season, Beckman scored 33 points (19 goals, 14 assists) for the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL), leading the team in goals and ranking fourth in points. Over parts of four seasons with Iowa from 2020-21 to 2023-24, he accumulated 108 points (57 goals, 51 assists) in 181 regular-season games. He also scored one goal in two Calder Cup Playoff games in 2023.

Born on May 10, 2001, Beckman was drafted by Minnesota in the third round, 75th overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft. Before his professional career, he played three seasons (2017-18 to 2020-21) in the Western Hockey League (WHL) with the Spokane Chiefs, amassing 196 points (97 goals, 99 assists) in 153 games.

Clarke, who played the last four seasons with the Devils organization at the AHL level with Binghamton/Utica, was selected by New Jersey in the third round, 80th overall, in the 2019 NHL Draft, five picks after Minnesota selected Beckman.
