Rockets to Trade Third Overall Pick in the 2024 NBA Draft

We’ve heard it repeatedly: the 2024 NBA Draft is considered weak, with no guaranteed stars. However, there are players who seem promising, like Reed Sheppard, who could be a valuable addition to a team lacking shooting depth, such as the Houston Rockets.

However, the Rockets already have a surplus of young talent. According to a recent report, rival GMs indicate that Houston is open to trading. Bleacher Report mentions:

“Rival teams say the No. 3 pick is available. There’s limited space on the Houston Rockets roster for another developing player, and the team aims to transition from rebuilding to climbing the standings.”

While it’s important to remember that this could be part of draft season rumors, it’s not surprising to hear that the Rockets are considering trading the pick. General Manager Rafael Stone is known for being open to deals, and given the uncertainty of this draft, it might be wise for the Rockets to use the pick to acquire a veteran player or future assets in a stronger draft.

Whether the Rockets actually trade the pick remains uncertain. If they keep the No. 3 spot, several players could be chosen. With no clear consensus on the top prospects, the outcome is unpredictable.
