Every NFL fan knows the Miami Dolphins boast a star-studded offense with the capability to light up the scoreboard. However, to secure a Lombardi Trophy for South Florida, the team must also excel on defense.
This week, the franchise made a significant move towards defensive dominance by signing a notable player. Dolphins fans must be thrilled with Tom Pelissero’s report that the team has signed veteran defensive end Calais Campbell.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 282 pounds, the 37-year-old Campbell is an imposing figure on the defensive front. Despite his age, he continues to perform at a high level.
Campbell’s move to Miami is a homecoming of sorts, as he initially gained fame as a college player with the Miami Hurricanes nearly two decades ago. Last season, in 17 games with the Atlanta Falcons, Campbell demonstrated he still has the ability to disrupt offenses and cause havoc along the line of scrimmage.
This signing is a major win for Miami. The team is aiming for its fifth consecutive winning season in 2024, but it must adapt to a significant change on defense. Coordinator Vic Fangio has departed and been replaced by new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver.
Weaver, coming from Baltimore, is a highly respected assistant coach with aspirations of advancing in his career. Having a defensive powerhouse like Campbell on the roster can only bolster Weaver’s efforts.
