Since Odell Beckham Jr.’s departure, the New York Giants have struggled to assemble a wide receiver corps comparable to any elite NFL offense. Attempts with players like Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney fell short, and while Darius Slayton has led the team in yards the past two seasons, the group has not met expectations.
As the Giants head into 2024, they are focused on creating an environment for Daniel Jones to excel. Drafting Malik Nabers at No. 6 overall was a strong start, but having reliable complementary pieces is crucial.
To build a threatening offense, the Giants need new players to step up. Unfortunately, Bryce Ford-Wheaton, a second-year undrafted free agent, has been hindered by injuries. After showing promise in the 2023 preseason, he tore his ACL. More recently, during a minicamp, he sustained a shoulder sprain. While the Giants have until July 24 to rest, this is another setback for Ford-Wheaton.
NY Giants WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton can’t seem to stay healthy.
With Slayton also dealing with injuries and Darren Waller’s retirement, the Giants are again lacking playmakers. Although Malik Nabers has the potential for a breakout rookie year, the Giants risk becoming one-dimensional in their passing game.
The primary focus for the Giants’ WRs is to get healthy during the break. With new additions like Allen Robinson and Isaiah McKenzie, Daniel Jones should have a more diverse set of options.
Heading into training camp, there is still excitement about the NYG offense. If all goes well, the Giants can build a successful 2024 season step by step. Additionally, there’s hope that Ford-Wheaton can recover and remain healthy.
