**FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. —** Former Miami Dolphins star cornerback Xavien Howard is accused of sending a sexually explicit photo of a teenage boy’s mother to the teenager because she refused to get an abortion, according to a new court filing.
This allegation surfaced Thursday in an ongoing lawsuit from last year by a woman unrelated to the teenager’s mother. The plaintiff accuses Howard, 30, of secretly recording their sexual encounters and sharing the recordings without consent. She claims Howard also distributed consensually made sex tapes without her permission.
The woman’s attorneys are seeking to add the now 18-year-old teenager as a plaintiff against Howard, who was released by the Dolphins this off-season as a cost-saving measure and is currently a free agent. The teenager’s mother, who also had a relationship with Howard and was recorded without her consent, has not sued Howard.
“Xavien Howard uses intimidation and force, leaving destruction in his wake, severely impacting two lives,” attorneys Cam Justice and Adriana Alcade stated in their filing.
Howard’s attorney, Ted Craig, responded briefly, stating, “Mr. Howard denies the claims and looks forward to prevailing in a court of law.”
The original lawsuit, filed under the pseudonym Jane Doe, describes a relationship with Howard that lasted several months in 2022. After their breakup, Doe received an Instagram message from a woman claiming Howard had sent her sexually explicit videos involving various women, including Doe. This woman alleged Howard sent the videos because she rejected his advances. Another woman contacted Doe in April 2023 with similar claims.
Doe admitted she consented once to Howard recording their sexual activity but claimed other recordings were made without her knowledge.
In the recent filing to add the teenager as a plaintiff, it is alleged that in September 2022, Howard and the boy’s mother argued over her refusal to have an abortion. The attorneys claim Howard texted the teenager a sexually explicit photo of his mother to “debase and humiliate” her, causing the teenager “severe emotional distress.”
“Howard’s actions were outrageous and exceeded all boundaries of decency,” Justice and Alcade wrote.
Howard, who was drafted by the Dolphins out of Baylor in 2016, played eight seasons with the team, intercepting 29 passes in 100 games and earning four Pro Bowl selections. His performance declined over the past two seasons due to injuries, limiting him to 13 games in 2023.
