Elks Bolster Roster with Return of Key WR and Fast-Rising QB

**EDMONTON** — On Monday, the Edmonton Elks revealed the addition of American wide receiver Jerminic Smith to their practice roster.

Smith, 28, is returning to the Elks after being cut post-training camp. During two preseason matchups against the Saskatchewan Roughriders and BC Lions, the Texas native recorded seven catches for 38 yards.

The Edmonton Elks also announced on Sunday the signing of quarterback Dakota Prukop.

The veteran quarterback is returning to Edmonton after being released by the B.C. Lions in late May.

Prukop previously played for Edmonton in 2021, where he accumulated 134 rushing yards and two touchdowns over eight games.

The 30-year-old spent the past two seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, scoring 13 rushing touchdowns in 27 games.

As a short-yardage specialist, Prukop has appeared in the last two Grey Cups with the Bombers, amassing 42 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns, with two touchdowns in each game.

Prukop, originally from Austin, Texas, began his CFL career with the Toronto Argonauts in 2017.
