The Seattle Seahawks have concluded both their rookie minicamp and the inaugural week of officially organized team activities (OTAs). During this time, the synergy among new rookies, free-agent acquisitions, and returning players has begun to solidify. General manager John Schneider, alongside new head coach Mike Macdonald and their staff, have closely evaluated the majority of the roster. Now, what lies ahead?
Over the next three weeks, the Seahawks still have ten more days of OTAs and Mandatory Minicamp, resuming activities the Tuesday following Memorial Day Weekend. As they progress, attention shifts to the emerging underdogs vying for spots on the active roster. Five players stood out last week and are expected to maintain their momentum.
Tyrice Knight, Linebacker:
Tyrice Knight, with an impressive college record including around 400 tackles, 10 sacks, and multiple interceptions at UTEP, has seamlessly integrated into OTAs. With Tyrel Dodson and Jerome Baker facing limitations, Knight has been rotating starter reps, as observed by Bob Condotta in practice.
These are voluntary and some guys have commitments and come and go so I don't read much into guys not there. But players we didn't see today included DK Metcalf, Jarran Reed, Leonard Williams and Dre'Mont Jones. Also didn't see Stone Forsythe.

Seahawks’ Enhanced Offensive Line Depth:
The Seahawks prioritized bolstering their offensive line depth during the 2024 NFL Draft, and early signs indicate success. Third-round pick Christian Haynes is already showing promise at guard, potentially displacing McClendon Curtis. Additionally, sixth-round selection Sataoa Laumea, with significant experience at guard and offensive tackle, could secure a spot on the active roster, especially at left guard.
#Seahawks weening rookie linemen into rotations. Charles Cross, Laken Tomlinson, Olu Oluwatimi, McClendon Curtis, and George Fant took first-team reps.

The competition for backup right tackle seems to be between Garret Greenfield and Michael Jerrell, both of whom bring valuable experience despite their lower college football levels. Greenfield’s versatility and extensive playing time in college may give him an edge.
Overall, the Seahawks’ offensive line depth appears significantly improved, promising a competitive season ahead.
