Red Sox Trade Struggling Infielder to Mets for Cash

BOSTON — The Red Sox traded infielder Pablo Reyes to the New York Mets for cash on Saturday.

Boston had designated Reyes for assignment on April 29 to make room on the roster for first baseman Garrett Cooper. Reyes, who played in 85 games for the Red Sox during the 2023-24 seasons, cleared waivers and accepted an assignment to Triple-A Worcester, where he played five games this month.
