Florida Atlantic has secured a commitment from one of its top defensive targets for the 2025 class. Osceola (Fla.) linebacker Robert Lee announced his decision to join the Owls on Tuesday.
Lee chose FAU over offers from UCF, Kentucky, FIU, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, and others.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound linebacker cited the strong relationship he developed with FAU’s coaching staff as the primary reason for his commitment.
“What made me choose FAU over multiple schools was the connection I felt with the coaching staff,” Lee told Owls247. “During my visits, I received a lot of love from the entire staff. They contact me every day, and I speak with Coach Herman at least two to three times a week.”
Lee highlighted defensive coordinator Roc Bellantoni and safeties coach Derrick Gibson as the coaches he built the closest relationships. Bellantoni, who also oversees the linebackers, will be Lee’s position coach.
“[Bellantoni] assured me that FAU is the perfect place for me. Boca is a good fit,” Lee said. “I trusted him and believed in his vision, which pushed me towards FAU.”
In his junior year, Lee recorded 72 tackles, 15 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions, and two pass deflections. FAU envisions him as a middle linebacker and a leader on the field.
Lee has visited FAU multiple times and has an official visit scheduled from June 7-9.
“FAU fans can expect big hits, big plays, and definitely more winning games with me on the team,” Lee said.
