Michigan is coming off its best season ever, finishing 15-0 and winning the National Championship. Despite their remarkable success, several players transferred during the winter and spring transfer portal windows this offseason.
Major Michigan Players Stayed After Jim Harbaugh Left for the NFL
Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh moved to the NFL this offseason to lead the Los Angeles Chargers, leaving offensive coordinator Sherrone Moore to step in as the new head coach for the Wolverines.
Typically, when a college football head coach departs, many top players follow suit. However, Michigan’s top players, including cornerback Will Johnson, tight end Colston Loveland, and defensive tackle Mason Graham, chose to stay. Conversely, some less impactful players entered the transfer portal, with one finding a new team on Tuesday.
Eamonn Dennis Is Heading to Ohio
Former Michigan wide receiver Eamonn Dennis entered the transfer portal this spring after four seasons with the Wolverines, during which he appeared in 29 games, primarily on special teams. Dennis will now play for the Ohio Bobcats, the Wolverines’ biggest rival’s state team.
Dennis was ranked as the 36th best athlete in the 2020 class by 247sports.com and has two years of eligibility remaining.
