Edmonton Elks Secure Five-Star Talent in 2024 Supplemental Draft

The Edmonton Elks have chosen defensive lineman Antonio Alfano in the 2024 Supplemental Draft, the team announced on Tuesday. As a result, the Elks will forfeit their eighth-round pick in the 2025 CFL Draft.

Alfano, a native of Livingston, N.J., played the 2023 season at Lackawanna College, where he tallied 14 total tackles, including eight tackles-for-loss, four sacks, and one forced fumble in five games. Before joining Lackawanna, Alfano had stints at the University of Alabama (2019), the University of Colorado (2020), and Independence Community College (2021).

A five-star recruit, Alfano was ranked as the fifth overall player in the class of 2019.

The Supplemental Draft is for players who were not classified as Nationals in time for the CFL Draft and are now eligible for supplemental selection. CFL teams can bid for these players by forfeiting their highest pick in the next CFL Draft. The team willing to give up the highest pick secures the player’s rights.

The 2024 season marks the 75th anniversary of professional football in Edmonton. The Elks will kick off their CFL campaign on Saturday, June 8, against the Saskatchewan Roughriders at Commonwealth Stadium. Season tickets are now available, with youth tickets (ages 17 and under) priced at $75 and adult tickets starting at $175.
