Essendon has made a last-minute adjustment to their squad for Sunday’s game against North Melbourne. Senior midfielder Dylan Shiel will make his first appearance of 2024, stepping in for utility player Nik Cox, who is sidelined due to illness.
Shiel’s inclusion sees him named in the 23-man squad, while young midfielder Elijah Tsatas joins Nate Caddy and Nick Bryan as the emergencies for Round 10. Shiel’s season start was delayed by a foot injury during pre-season, but he has since played five games with Essendon’s VFL team after returning in Round 1.
Originally, the Bombers had an unchanged lineup for the Kangaroos match, with defender Jordan Ridley continuing his recovery from a quad injury in the VFL. A victory this week would elevate Essendon to second place on the ladder and mark their third consecutive win.
Essendon will face North Melbourne at Marvel Stadium on Sunday at 1:10 pm (AEST), with final squad confirmations an hour before the game.
