If there’s one thing rookie minicamps excel at, it’s providing undrafted free agents with the opportunity to catch the attention of head coaches. Among these undrafted rookies making waves for the Carolina Panthers is Jalen Coker, hailing from Holy Cross.
During a conversation with reporters on Friday, Panthers head coach Dave Canales couldn’t help but lavish praise on Coker. “He’s got the size, instincts, and knack for separating at the top of his routes,” remarked Canales. “He’s particularly adept at navigating zones and finding those open spaces. Additionally, he brings some impressive skills after the catch, with his size allowing him to break tackles. His ability to go up for contested catches is also noteworthy. His skill set is quite remarkable, and I’m eager to see how he performs against NFL competition as we progress into Phase Three OTAs. I have high hopes for him.”
It seems the Panthers hit the jackpot with Coker. During his time at Holy Cross, he etched his name in the program’s history books, becoming the all-time leader in receiving yards with 2,715 and receiving touchdowns with 31.
