NFL Draft expert Matt Miller suggests that the Chicago Bears may feel compelled to trade up from their ninth overall pick to secure Marvin Harrison Jr. Miller notes that while the Bears are slated to pick quarterback Caleb Williams first, they’re in a position to maneuver for Harrison Jr. if they desire. Though the team has been linked to other wide receiver prospects like Rome Odunze and Malik Nabers, obtaining Harrison Jr. would necessitate a move up the draft board.
Miller points out that surprises are common in each year’s draft, highlighting the Houston Texans’ bold move up to the third overall pick in last year’s draft after initially selecting C.J. Stroud at number two. On the Up & Adams Show, Miller remarks, “I think Chicago could try, it would make it fun.” He emphasizes the tendency for teams to act impulsively during the draft process, as demonstrated by the Texans’ maneuver, suggesting that the Bears should explore trading up if Harrison Jr. falls within reach.
While acknowledging the potential costliness of such a move, Miller believes it’s a strategic consideration for Chicago. The 2024 NFL Draft is set to kick off on Thursday in Detroit, Michigan.
