The Seattle Seahawks bolstered their quarterback lineup ahead of the 2024 NFL draft by welcoming former Ohio State quarterback Kory Curtis. Curtis shared his excitement on X, formerly known as Twitter, expressing gratitude for the chance to join the Seahawks and noting that his journey begins with rookie minicamp.
Having initially earned a scholarship at Ohio State but transferring out after Justin Fields became the starter, Curtis pursued his football career elsewhere, eventually showcasing his skills at Gannon University. Despite not being drafted in the 2023 NFL draft as expected, Curtis didn’t let it deter him and instead played for the Quad City Steamrollers in the Indoor Football League before signing with the West Texas Desert Hawks.
Before his stint with the Seahawks, Curtis caught the attention of the Pittsburgh Steelers during a private workout, with scouts intrigued by his strong arm and Division I experience. Gannon head coach Erik Raeburn praised Curtis’s development during his time at the university, highlighting his improved accuracy and understanding of the game.
Curtis’s football journey reflects resilience and determination, culminating in his opportunity with the Seahawks. While Geno Smith is slated as the starting quarterback for the upcoming season, speculation persists that Seattle may opt for a quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft, with former University of Washington standout Michael Penix Jr. being a notable contender according to league analysts.
