Amari Cooper is heading into the final year of his contract, but the Cleveland Browns are eager to secure his services for the long term.
Having just concluded a standout Pro Bowl campaign with the Browns, Cooper amassed a career-best 1,250 yards from 72 receptions, scoring 5 touchdowns. Despite approaching his thirties this offseason, Cooper continues to demonstrate his high level of performance without any signs of decline. Known for his no-nonsense approach to catching passes, he seamlessly integrates with Cleveland’s team culture.
During discussions with reporters at the NFL’s annual meetings, Browns general manager Andrew Berry expressed interest in extending Cooper’s contract sooner rather than later. Berry emphasized Cooper’s Pro Bowl-caliber and his significant contributions to the team over the past couple of seasons, highlighting his valuable presence both on and off the field. Ensuring the retention of players of Cooper’s caliber remains a priority for the team, and negotiations for a contract extension will be addressed in due course.
Presently, Cooper is set to earn $20 million in the upcoming season, with a corresponding cap charge of $23.77 million.
