Jerry Jeudy wasted no time leaving his mark on the Cleveland Browns. The speedy wide receiver, acquired just a week ago from the Denver Broncos, cemented his future with the team by signing a three-year contract extension on Tuesday.
With this new deal, Jeudy, who was in the final year of his contract, is now committed to Cleveland until the end of the 2027 season.
The extension, valued at up to $58 million, includes $41 million guaranteed, ensuring Jeudy’s pivotal role in the Browns’ offensive strategies. Cleveland acquired Jeudy by trading fifth- and sixth-round draft picks to the Broncos, recognizing his potential as a deep threat for quarterback Deshaun Watson.
“I want to be where I’m wanted. I want to feel at home,” Jeudy stated. “I see it as a fresh start.”
Despite facing challenges during his time in Denver, Jeudy’s explosive talent and potential were evident. He showcased his abilities with career-best numbers of 67 receptions for 972 yards and six touchdowns in 2022.
The Browns, in search of a top-tier receiver to complement Amari Cooper, had their eyes on Jeudy for some time. General Manager Andrew Berry’s persistence paid off, securing Jeudy’s services for the foreseeable future.
“He’s a versatile receiver who can excel in separating from man coverage, and he can produce effectively both on the perimeter and in the slot,” Berry remarked. “We believed that adding a passionate and competitive player like him, with his array of strengths, would be a crucial element of our offense now and in the future.”
At just 24 years old and entering his prime, Jeudy brings promise and potential to the Browns’ offense. In his four seasons with the Broncos, he accumulated 211 receptions for 3,053 yards and 11 touchdowns, showcasing his game-changing abilities.
In addition to Jeudy’s extension, the Browns strengthened their roster by signing cornerback Tony Brown, defensive tackle Quinton Jefferson, and re-signing wide receiver James Proche.
Brown, known for his versatility and special teams skills, provides depth to the secondary after a season with the Indianapolis Colts.
Meanwhile, the 6-foot-4, 290-pound Jefferson brings experience and pass-rushing prowess, having played in 103 NFL games across multiple teams.
Proche, a familiar face in Cleveland, demonstrated his value last season as a dependable punt returner and special teams contributor, making his return to the Browns’ roster a welcomed move.
