We reminisce about the offseason gym videos showcasing Nick Chubb’s impressive squatting feats at Cedartown High School. However, this year, Chubb’s offseason training remains shrouded in secrecy, leaving us unaware of his current progress.
Chubb sustained ACL and MCL injuries during Week 2 against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While fortunate that there was no tearing, he underwent two separate surgeries in September and November to address the knee issues. The recovery timeline has been uncertain, with a consensus suggesting his return sometime during the 2024 season. However, the ambiguity arises as the NFL season spans from September to January-February.
Chubb was last publicly spotted at the Browns vs. Jets game on December 28, where he confidently walked without crutches or assistance, donning a Batman mask and smashing a guitar during pregame festivities.
As the offseason unfolds, the Browns are not obligated to disclose Chubb’s progress. Nonetheless, the signing of Nyheim Hines, primarily seen as a passing back and special teams contributor, suggests a positive outlook. It’s unlikely that Hines is meant to directly replace Chubb, especially in the early stages of the season.
In the absence of Kareem Hunt, who is no longer with the team, Jerome Ford attempted to fill Chubb’s role in 2023, starting 12 games and tallying significant rushing and receiving yards along with touchdowns.
Speculation arises about Deshaun Watson potentially alleviating the rushing workload for all running backs in 2024, although confirmation awaits Chubb and Watson’s on-field performance.
While we eagerly await updates on Chubb’s recovery, we treasure past videos showcasing his remarkable weight room endeavors and eagerly anticipate more when he returns to full health.
