Reportedly, the Cleveland Browns have been actively engaged as the NFL free agency commenced on Wednesday at 4 PM. Confirming four significant moves, they welcomed back DE Za’Darius Smith in free agency and shared a video introducing WR Jerry Jeudy, acquired through a trade.
Earlier in the day, a noteworthy addition for special teams came with the re-signing of punter Corey Bojorquez.
However, the Browns also saw departures on Wednesday, with FB/OL Nick Harris heading to Seattle and TE Harrison Bryant to Las Vegas.
Possibly stepping into these roles is Giovanni Ricci, who boasts a versatile skill set, being listed as both a fullback and a tight end. Standing at 6’3” and weighing 230 pounds, Ricci hails from Loveland, Ohio. During his tenure with the Panthers, spanning three seasons with four starts, his most productive receiving year was in 2022, totaling eight receptions for 100 yards.
While Ricci has seen limited action on offense, he has been significantly involved in special teams, accumulating 647 snaps.
Given the Browns’ historical underutilization of the fullback position, Ricci’s versatility and contribution to special teams could be key factors in his bid for a roster spot under special teams coordinator Bubba Ventrone.
