Earlier today, Michigan extended its second offer to a 2026 tight end within two days, with Ryder Mix from Frisco (Tx.) Lone Star announcing the news on Twitter. Yesterday, the Wolverines had also offered Heze Kent from Brunswick (Ga.), both of whom had garnered over 15 offers at that point. Mix expressed his gratitude for the offer from Michigan, citing the program’s rich history and consistent success as reasons for his appreciation. Grant Newsome and James Brown, according to Mix, were the UM coaches who extended the offer to the 6-4, 225-pound tight end on Tuesday morning. Michigan has now entered the fray alongside other notable programs such as Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, and Texas A&M in pursuing Mix, who is known for his physicality as a pass catcher. Currently, Mix has unofficial visits planned for Texas A&M and Oklahoma in the future, and he hopes to add Michigan to his list if circumstances permit. While he doesn’t have concrete plans to visit Michigan yet, Mix expresses a strong desire to do so as soon as possible. Last season, Mix had an impressive performance, catching 16 passes for 248 yards and three touchdowns, helping his team secure an undefeated district championship.
The Lone Star Rangers finished the season with a 10-2 record, with Mix earning All-District honors for his contributions. Mix’s recruitment gained momentum after he completed his sophomore highlight tape, receiving 10 offers during the final week of January. Reflecting on his development, Mix emphasized the importance of the past season in understanding his role within the team’s offense. Currently, Mix is actively participating in track and field events such as the 100-meter and 200-meter dash, as well as shot put, for Lone Star this spring, gearing up for a summer dedicated to preparing for his junior football season.
