Yesterday marked a significant day for Ohio State football enthusiasts as it heralded the commencement of spring practice, following a notably eventful two-month offseason period in the program’s history. Additionally, Tuesday saw a surge in expert predictions from the recruiting arena, providing fans with a plethora of updates. Some of these updates introduce new developments, while others signify enhancements in Ohio State University’s (OSU) prospects of securing talented players. Overall, it amounted to a flurry of recruiting news.
Here’s a rundown of the prognostications:
Jaime Ffrench, a highly ranked wide receiver nationally, received an official prediction from Ohio State Insider Matt Parker suggesting a commitment to the Buckeyes. Despite originally committing to Alabama, Ffrench reopened his recruitment following the retirement announcement of Alabama’s head coach Nick Saban. With OSU and Florida State vying for his commitment, the momentum appears to be in favor of the Buckeyes.
On the defensive side, Justin Hill, an in-state edge rusher, received a prediction from Chad Simmons indicating his likelihood of joining Ohio State. Hill, ranked 120th nationally, has been a priority target for the Buckeyes and has held an offer since last March. Another defensive lineman, Mariyon Dye from Elkhart, Indiana, also received predictions from Matt Parker and Alex Gleitman in favor of Ohio State. These predictions boost OSU’s chances of securing Dye to 95.3%.
Adding to the defensive reinforcements, London Merritt from IMG Academy received a prediction from Gleitman, further strengthening Ohio State’s defensive line prospects. Merritt, along with Dye, is scheduled to visit Columbus in June, indicating the Buckeyes’ strong position in recruiting.
Trey McNutt, a standout safety prospect and Buckeye legacy, garnered a prediction from Gleitman favoring Ohio State. Ranking as the top player in Ohio and the No. 29 nationally, McNutt’s potential commitment would bolster OSU’s defensive backfield.
These predictions, coupled with others in the recruiting pipeline, signal Ohio State’s continued efforts to secure top talent for the 2025 recruiting cycle.
