Tight end Darren Waller’s inaugural season with the Giants mirrored his final two seasons with the Raiders. After being traded to the Giants due to recurring hamstring injuries that sidelined him for parts of both seasons with the Raiders, Waller missed five additional games during his first season with the Giants. With no guaranteed money left on his contract and the potential to clear over $11 million by releasing him as a post-June 1 cut, there was speculation that the Giants might opt to part ways with the injury-prone player.
However, according to a report from The New York Post, the Giants are planning to retain Waller for a second season. Despite facing ongoing challenges with his hamstring health, Waller expressed his intention to dedicate his offseason to finding ways to prevent further injuries. Although he had contemplated retirement due to his persistent injury issues, he has since abandoned that notion. Nonetheless, the upcoming 2024 season may represent his final opportunity to demonstrate his value on the offensive side of the ball.
