Every year, the NFLPA issues a comprehensive report assessing players’ sentiments regarding their working environment. These evaluations delve into various aspects such as the head coach, weight room, food quality, and more.
The Los Angeles Chargers find themselves in a transitional phase, eagerly anticipating the completion of their new practice facility in El Segundo. Given the ongoing changes within the team, it is understandable that players may not be entirely satisfied with the current situation.
According to the NFLPA report card, the Chargers currently hold the 30th position out of 32 teams in overall rankings. Particularly concerning are the “F” grades in Treatment of Families, Food/Cafeteria, and Locker Room.
In terms of Treatment of Families, the “F” grade suggests a significant dissatisfaction among players. The Food/Cafeteria category places the Chargers at the 32nd spot for “overall food taste” and “overall food freshness,” earning them another “F.”
The Locker Room category, marked with an “F,” indicates that only 57% of players feel the locker room is adequately spacious.
Despite these challenges, there are positive aspects highlighted in the report. The Chargers received a B for Nutritionist/Dietician, a B for the head coach, and C+ grades for both the Training Staff and Ownership.
With the recent addition of Jim Harbaugh to the organization, there is optimism for positive change. Harbaugh, in a press conference, emphasized the significance of details, acknowledging that the report card should be a cause for concern.
Harbaugh’s commitment to addressing concerns is evident as he likened the weight room to an “all-you-can-eat buffer,” indicating a thorough approach to improving the overall facility and its details.
The upcoming offseason presents a crucial period for the team to address these issues swiftly and work towards elevating their overall grade.
