Mike Davis, who had an eight-year tenure in the NFL, has officially retired and made the announcement on his 31st birthday. Despite not playing in the league during the 2023 season, Davis had last seen game action with the Ravens, who signed him in May 2022. Unfortunately, after Baltimore released him in December of that year, he did not secure any opportunities with other teams.
Davis began his NFL career in 2015 with the 49ers but spent only two years with the team before moving on to a two-year stint with the Seahawks. It was with the Seahawks in 2018 that he saw increased playing time, accumulating over 100 carries and notable production with 514 yards and four touchdowns. Despite this, Davis continued to move between teams, playing for the Bears, Panthers, Falcons, and Ravens over his career.
His most productive season was in 2020 when he surpassed 1,000 scrimmage yards and scored eight touchdowns with the Panthers, leading to a move to the Falcons on a two-year, $5.5 million contract. However, his time as the lead back in Atlanta did not meet expectations, resulting in his release after one season.
Throughout his NFL career, Davis played in 87 games, including a single postseason appearance with the Seahawks, and earned approximately $13.3 million. As he transitions into post-playing days, Davis expressed gratitude for the friendships and memories forged during his NFL journey in his retirement announcement on social media.
