The Wests Tigers have bolstered their youth squad by securing Jared Haywood, the current hooker for Balmain Tigers SG Ball Cup team, on a one-year deal. Originally from St Marys, Haywood began his journey with the Penrith Panthers Under-15s development squad before transitioning to Balmain Tigers, one of Wests Tigers’ affiliated pathways teams. After representing the Balmain Tigers Harold Matthews Cup team in 2023, he moved up to the SG Ball Cup squad this season. With this new contract, Haywood will have the opportunity to learn from experienced players like Apisai Koroisau, Jake Simpkin, and Tallyn Da Silva.
His contract, confirmed by Aria Management Group, extends until the end of the 2024 season. Additionally, it’s understood that after the current SG Ball Cup season concludes, he will be eligible to join the Jersey Flegg Cup squad.
