LSU’s Dominance Continues: Star Running Back from Calvary Baptist Set to Join Tigers’ Stellar Recruiting Class

The LSU football coaching staff has been extremely dedicated to recruiting efforts for the 2025 cycle, and with the current top-ranked class, they’re not slowing down. Led by Brian Kelly and his team, there’s a strong focus on keeping Louisiana’s top talent within state borders.

So far, LSU has managed to secure commitments from six of the Top 10 prospects in Louisiana, with one more showing promising signs of joining the fold. James Simon, the No. 4 player in the state and the second-ranked running back in the 2025 cycle seems to be leaning towards LSU following interactions with the coaching staff.

During a recent visit, recruiting expert Frank Wilson and quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan personally met with Simon in Shreveport. Despite being courted by numerous top programs nationwide, LSU is keen on retaining the talented Calvary Baptist star.

Wilson, who also serves as the Tigers’ running backs coach, has already secured a commitment from the nation’s top-ranked running back, Harlem Berry, and Simon appears to be their next target. While Simon hasn’t set a commitment date yet, LSU remains determined to secure his commitment and is intensifying efforts accordingly.

LSU’s 2025 recruiting class has the potential to significantly elevate the program, boasting commitments from top prospects like Bryce Underwood (No. 1 QB), Harlem Berry (No. 1 RB), and Dakorien Moore (No. 1 WR). The addition of Simon would further bolster the team’s offensive arsenal, creating a formidable backfield duo alongside Berry.

Following their visit with Simon, the coaching staff also met with Devin Harper, a four-star offensive lineman who plays alongside Simon in high school. Harper has recently pledged his commitment to LSU, and the Tigers are hopeful for a similar outcome with Simon.

Additionally, the coaching staff traveled to Michigan to meet with Bryce Underwood, the nation’s top prospect, who committed to LSU earlier this year. As LSU continues to pursue Simon, experts and insiders are increasingly predicting his eventual commitment to the Tigers.
