The Falcons have announced the addition of six new assistant coaches to their staff:
1. Tim Berbenich joins as a pass game specialist/game management coach. While he did not coach in 2023, his most recent role was as the Texans’ tight ends coach in 2022. Berbenich began his NFL coaching career as an offensive assistant with the Jets in 2003 and has previously worked with new Falcons coach Raheem Morris in Tampa Bay.
2. K.J. Black comes on board as an offensive assistant.
3. Justin Hood has been appointed as the secondary coach. Hood previously served as the Packers’ defensive quality control coach for the past three seasons and had college-level coaching experience, including a Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship internship with the Giants in 2013.
4. Lance Schulters is welcomed as a defensive assistant.
5. John Timu is named a defensive assistant.
6. Ken Zampese takes on the role of senior offensive assistant. Zampese, aged 56, served as the Commanders’ senior offensive advisor/game management coach in the previous season. He spent three seasons as Washington’s quarterbacks coach and was the offensive coordinator for the Bengals in 2016-17. Zampese has an extensive NFL career dating back to 1998 when he started as a Packers’ offensive assistant.
