Speculations Surrounding Patriots: Fresh Insights Into Potential Offensive Coaching Staff Arrangement

In 2024, the Patriots’ offensive coaching staff is undergoing significant changes. As of Tuesday afternoon, three candidates were either interviewed or scheduled for interviews for the vacant offensive coordinator position: Nick Caley, Zac Robinson, and Dan Pitcher. Caley and Robinson previously served as tight ends and quarterbacks coaches for the Los Angeles Rams, while Pitcher held the position of QBs coach for the Cincinnati Bengals.

On Tuesday, Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated provided further information on the Patriots’ coaching search, unveiling additional details.

According to Albert Breer, the former Patriots tight ends coach, Nick Caley, who held the same position with the Los Angeles Rams last year, underwent an interview for the job on Monday. Breer also mentioned that DeMarcus Covington is the leading candidate for the defensive coordinator position. He further speculated that it’s conceivable for the Patriots to appoint one of these up-and-coming coaches as the coordinator, potentially with the support of a senior offensive assistant.

Breer also suggested the possibility of Jerod Mayo, the Patriots’ coach, bringing in a more seasoned assistant with previous head coaching experience as he acclimates to his role.

If the Patriots don’t bring back Josh McDaniels, they will be on their fourth offensive coordinator in as many seasons. While not an ideal scenario, it reflects the current reality of the situation.
